For the first time in Chinese history, a high profile athlete has come out as lesbian. The athlete in question is 28 year old Li Ying who plays as a striker in the Chinese Women's Super League for Shandong Ladies.

It was announced today that Celtic FC Women had signed Shen Mengyu from Chinese Women's Super League side, Shanghai Shengli. This signing has made history, as Shen Mengyu is the first Chinese women's footballer to play in the UK. But only a few minutes after this announcement, Tottenham Hotspur Women announced the signing of Tang Jiali also from Shanghai Shengli, on loan for the 2021/2022 season. 

As most of you will know. Asia is a massive continent, which has diverse climates, cultures, altitudes, finances and also football stadiums. After nearl a three month break from games, the Malaysian Super League returns this weekend. Similarly to other leagues across Asia, the league had gone on pause whilst World Cup Qualifiers took place and AFC Champions League games.
